Only one in 3 getting a regular NHS dental check

JUST one in three adults are getting NHS dental check-ups amid alerts the system is "broken".

Dentists warn the collapse in access is storing up major problems as most of the population is no longer seeing a dentist regularly to tackle issues early.

The NHS Dental Statistics for England 2023/24 show just 40% of adults were seen by an NHS dentist in the 24 months up to June 2024, This is down from 49% before the pandemic and 52.5% in 2010/11 when the Tories came to power.
