NOVAK DJOKOVIC has extra motivation to win back the Australian Open after defying a heckler during his latest victory in Melbourne.
The Serbian superstar, who was deported from Australia last year for his Covid anti-vaccine stance, continued his ruthless form as he booked his place in the last four with victory over Andrey Rublev.
But along the way he had to contend with a spectator shouting, “Send him home, Rublev, send him home” during the first set of his clash against the world No.6 from Russia.
It is not the first time he has been abused during this event, with four men dressed as ‘Where’s Wally’, one of whom Djokovic claimed was “drunk out of his mind”, ejected from his second-round win over Enzo Couacaud.
The nine-time champion has also hit back at “doubters” who have claimed he has been “faking” a hamstring injury.
