Julius Cools stepped in to grab the machete-length weapon when the man was threatening a girl in the Caribbean food outlet.
His son Jermaine died near West Croydon station in south London last November, with a 16-year-old boy arrested and charged.
The victim was the youngest person to be stabbed and killed on London’s streets in 2021, a 12-month period in which 30 teenagers lost their lives – a grim record for such stabbings in the capital.
Now security camera footage from three weeks ago shows Mr Cools wrestling with an attacker, who is wearing a black jacket with a hood over his head.
