Cornwall Over-60s team take national title in Berkhamsted

CORNWALL took two sides to the National Racketball County Championships in Berkhamsted at the weekend.
The Over-50s side, featuring one Penzance Pirate Peter Ellicock, performed way above expectations and came out third overall at the end of the weekend.
Ellicock in particular had a great weekend, winning all three of his singles matches. However, it was the 060 team who stunned previously dominant counties, such as Surrey and Essex, to take the national title on the Sunday afternoon.
The side featured four Penzance Pirates: Nigel Bell, Peter Eddy, Tim Poole and the captain, Chris Davey.
In the final, versus Bedfordshire, the Cornwall side knew they had to start strongly in the three singles matches.
