Flat refusal Apartment buyers up in arms over moving in date delays

PEOPLE who have bought up flats in a landmark new affordable housing development in South Bristol have been told issues with the construction mean they won't now be able to move in until next year - more than 18 months after some were first promised.

People waiting to complete the purchase of some 107 new shared ownership homes at the Old Brewery site have been left scrambling to renew their mortgages and some have pulled out altogether.

The troubled development site is at the Ashton Gate end of North Street, and has been beset by issues ever since planning permission was first granted back in April 2019, but now just as the two blocks of flats on the corner of North Street and Ashton Road are completed, there's new delays which have left would-be residents fuming, and the developers 'deeply disappointed'.

The oneand two-bed flats in the development, which has been described as a 'landmark £30 million investment in North Street, are valued at up to £365,000, but the shared ownership scheme means people living in the area have been able to put down deposits to buy a flexible share of their flats for under £100,000 in some cases.
