An Unexpected Creation

AT TIMES, THE most extraordinary ideas emerge from the most unexpected places. The Tubogas collection by Bvlgari is one such marvel. This iconic line takes its cue from industrial gas pipes, its name referencing the supple, articulated metal tubing once used to transport pressurised gas—an unlikely muse transformed into pure elegance.

The Roman luxury house redefined jewellery craftsmanship with a technique that coils two strips of gold into flowing, intertwined ribbons without soldering. Ingenious yet graceful, it turned a utilitarian innovation into a design language that feels as modern today as it did more than seven decades ago.

Though the technique was conceived in the late 1940s, Tubogas became a Bvlgari signature in 1948, when it debuted as the bracelet for the original Serpenti jewellery watch. From then on, it carved an enduring place in the brand's history, a symbol of creativity, aspiration, and daring Italian artistry.
