From stepping onstage at age 6 to making jaws drop in leather chaps (you know the ones), Christina Aguilera has always been known for taking risks. And as she sang in her Grammy-winning self-acceptance anthem, 2002’s “Beautiful,” her own opinion of herself is the only one that has ever mattered. Now, more than 20 years later, the 42-year-old superstar is making another statement, this time about aging, as the new celebrity brand partner for an antiwrinkle injection, Xeomin’s “Beauty on Your Terms” campaign. Here she opens up about her beauty routine and why a “frozen face” is not in her future.
Why did you want to work with Xeomin?
I’m always interested in finding new products that excite me and make me feel my best. Xeomin felt like the safest way to go because it doesn’t have any extra ingredients. It’s reassurance that no matter how tired I may be, I have backup.
As a performer, how important is expression?
We like expression, especially in my line of work. I don’t want to have a frozen face. Whether it’s being on-camera or performing onstage, I have to stay authentic to my emotion.
