The United Airlines mobile app for iOS offers live notifications throughout the entire travel journey

ONE OF MY favorite benefits in the points and miles world is United's Excursionist Perk, which allows MileagePlus members to add a free one-way ticket on certain round-trip itineraries booked with United miles. The airline has 17 designated regions around the world that group together various countries that fall within similar geographic areas. In the context of the Excursionist Perk, if you book a round-trip ticket with your miles that starts and ends in the same region, you can tack on an extra one-way flight to your itinerary within a different region for a cost of zero miles.

This unique perk still remains relatively under the radar within the industry.
