Cynical way to sell an end-of-line supercar or best version yet? You may be surprised

We've yet to drive the Porsche 911 Dakar here in the UK, but if it's going to be sweeter than the Huracán Sterrato that we've recently had a chance to play with, it will need to be brilliant.

This is an unusual state of affairs. Lamborghinis sound elemental and want for nothing when it comes to superficial drama, but from behind the wheel? Nine times out of 10, you would take the German car. While a Huracán Tecnica will drop your jaw in the moment, the richer synaptic imprint left by a thrashed 911 GT3 is that much more indelible. It's a more communicative, adjustable and serious device.

But then there's the superb Huracán Sterrato. Lamborghini has taken its entry-level supercar, hoisted the ride height 44mm, fitted gravel-eating Bridgestone Dueler tyres, had the good sense to clad the underbody and then sent it out into the world with a £233k asking price.
