Seven of Singapore’s most innovative designers unveiled newly commissioned works that set the stage for a new era of technology-led sustainable design at Milan Design Week in April.
Future Impact 2 presented by DesignSingapore Council was held at the historic La Rotonda del Pellegrini. Curated by Tony Chambers and Maria Cristina Didero, the works demonstrated the evolving and transformative power of design for a more sustainable future, while reflecting Singapore’s distinctive forward-thinking vision and approach to design.
This year’s designs aim to integrate a different technology, push the boundaries of production to minimise environmental impact, reconsider current production methods, and enhance functionality.
The designers featured in Future Impact 2 were: David Lee with Monolith chair and table; Gabriel Tan with Good Gourd – Hybrid Basketry Lamps; Christian+Jade with Para Stool; Faezah Shaharuddin with Unlikely Fragments; Genevieve Ang and Clement Zheng from Interactive Materials Lab with Reciproco; Tiffany Loy with Mosaic Membrane; and Zavier Wong with Manifold Steel - Wall Piece No.1.
