PAM STEEL’S garden has been a talking point in Mutley for a second year running, after she managed to grow another mutant sunflower.
Pam first hit headlines in August last year, when a ‘12-headed sunflower’ sprung up amongst her fruit and veg patch. The 79-year-old had no idea where it came from or how it came to grow so many heads, but she kept it well cared for once she noticed how much joy it was bringing passers-by.
As autumn passed and winter approached, Pam eventually ended up having to take a saw to the withering sunflower, which had formed a spiky stem over three inches thick.
