POLITICIANS ‘SIMPLY DON’T CARE ENOUGH’ TO STOP THIS ‘FARCE’

City MP rounds on PM Boris over veteran's trial

PLYMOUTH MP Johnny Mercer has rounded on the Prime Minister, claiming that he “can’t even be bothered” to respond to his letters over what he sees is the ‘cowardly’ pursuit of veterans through the courts.

In a strongly-worded piece written for The Telegraph, Mr Mercer called the decision by Northern Ireland’s judicial system to drag Dennis Hutchings, from Cawsand in Cornwall, through the courts a “farce”, likening it to a kangaroo court held by young soldiers in the barracks.

The Plymouth Moor View MP has criticised fellow politicians saying that while they are aware of the unfairness of the prosecutions of former soldiers he has “painfully realised of late” that “they simply don’t care enough to actually do anything about it.”

He went on to reveal: “Not once has the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland ever asked me what to do to sort this out; the Prime Minister can’t even be bothered to reply to my letters or make time to see me or others to discuss it.
