THE MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport has written to the chair of the Devon and Cornwall Crime Panel inviting him to come to Keyham and apologize for his recent words, adding that “crass jokes about guns are not helpful”.
Luke Pollard’s letter to Devon County Councillor Roger Croad comes after comments made at a panel meeting held in Plymouth on November 12 – exactly three months to the day after the Keyham shooting incident which saw five people – including a three-year-old girl – killed by a man wielding a pump-action shotgun.
In his letter, Mr Pollard said he was pleased to see the Police and Crime Commissioner “rightly” call Mr Croad out for his comments, but wanted to impress upon him “the pain and hurt that our community has experienced, since we lost five people in the shooting, with two needing medical treatment due to their injuries”.
