Irish shoppers set for online spending spree with clothes No1 choice

Irish shoppers are set to spend thousands of euro each minute online during Black Friday – with clothes the No1 buy.

That outlay is expected to be a 364% increase compared to any normal day and heightened because of Covid-19 restrictions on the high street.

AIB said clothing is the most popular purchase, followed by electrical goods, hardware, health and beauty and jewellery.

Spokeswoman Rachel Naughton added: “This year’s Black Friday will be like no other as many Irish businesses will remain closed as a result of the Level 5 restrictions.
