Amazing Graze

A Graveyard is getting a novel makeover after four goats were “hired” to eat weeds and overgrowth.

Fianna Fail councillor Audrey Buckley said she first saw the potential for “goatscaping” in Wales where the animals were used to keep walking paths clear for tourists.

More environmentally friendly than using strimmers and tools, she added they are more suitable for places such as old graveyards which have delicate headstones.

Mrs Buckley said goatscaping has caused quite a stir since it started at St Matthew’s graveyard in Crosshaven, Co Cork, last week.

Local children are turning up with their parents to catch a glimpse of the animals.
