Consensus reached on new govt proposal, meet today: Farmers

The year-long farmers' agitation along Delhi's borders moved a step closer to resolution with protesting farmers accepting the revised set of proposals sent by the Centre. However, the farmers wanted the proposals on a government letterhead.
Consensus reached on new govt proposal, meet today: Farmers

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) will meet again on Thursday noon to decide whether it wants to formally withdraw from the agitation or not.

The Centre, meanwhile, in a revised set of proposals, agreed to most of the clarifications sought by the protesting farmers. They include inclusion of SKM representatives in the committee to be formed to make MSP more effective and immediate withdrawal of all cases filed against protesting farmers.

They also include an in-principle agreement for compensation to the deceased farmers, who lost their lives during the protest and clarification on the electricity amendment Bill and stubble burning cases.
