Jaguar’s first electric car wades in the swelling SUV category this month but instead of offering the typical new-car gains everybody else does through minor massaging of size and tech, the I-Pace aims to offer sports car performance with the running costs associated with a small hatchback. Impossible challenge? Read on.

It’s called the I-Pace and carries many of Jaguar’s modern cues although the modern aluminium bodyshell (think F-Pace) isn’t boxy like the vast number of SUVs. Instead the I-Pace is sleek, low… could almost be mistaken for a coupe.
