Whether it is sending a text in place of a face to face meeting or sending emoticons to show our mood, technology has really changed the way we experience connection, love and intimacy.

For the most part, we have embraced social media. But when it comes to relationships we frown upon anyone who chooses to ‘rub’ their relationship in our faces. It is okay if you met prince charming on Facebook or Twitter but woe unto you if you start sharing photos of each other looking happy on said platforms. The labels of ‘insecure’, ‘want to rub it in our face’ will start soon after.

A lot of people equate posting your relationship online with insecurity. But this sweeping generalisation is very simplistic. Different people have different ways of expressing their happiness. In this age of documenting our lives on social media, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that people want to show off their significant other.

So if you fall among the pile of couples who love posting their relationship online or just want a cheat sheet of doing it right, here are tips on how to navigate the social streets like a couple

1 BE ON THE SAME PAGE

Sometimes you may want to post that cute selfie you took with him in Diani during that Easter weekend but he wants no part of this. Anita A. Chlipala, the author of First Comes Us:
