ESME YOUNG on how David Bowie inspired music-themed sewing challenges

The late, great David Bowie was always ahead of the style curve, experimenting effortlessly with fashions such as mod, glam rock and New Romantic. So he's the perfect muse for a music-themed episode of The Great British Sewing Bee - especially as judge Esme Young once met the iconic singer-songwriter while perched on a windowsill watching London's Notting Hill Carnival!

'We chatted about what he was wearing!' smiles Esme, 73, founder of the 1970s Swanky Modes fashion label.
