When it comes to action movies, Marvel star Lupita Nyong'o knows a thing or two. But while we V V can't wait to see her reprise her critically acclaimed role of Nakia, in Black Panther II, the 38-year-old is treating us to another movie first.
The Kenyan-Mexican actress has teamed up with a gang of famous women for The 355, a female-fronted spy thriller that sets out to be in the same vein as Mission: Impossible and James Bond.
Blockbuster regulars Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Penélope Cruz and Fan Bingbing join Lupita in the flick, which sees a group of international spies joining forces to stop a terrorist organisation from starting the Third World War.
Lupita won an Oscar for her work on 2013's 12 Years A Slave, but the star admits she's still honing her craft with help from the talented actresses that surround her.
Here, she chats about starring in action movies, the #MeToo movement and how it's been tough to return to the Black Panther set without the late great Chadwick Boseman..
Hi, Lupita! Tell us a little about your new film, The 355...
It centres on five women from different parts of the world in the spy/espionage thriller genre in a way that I'd never seen before. And so, in a sense, that's shifting the narrative because you have a familiar genre but with a new perspective.
It's very action-packed. Do you do any of your own stunts?
