Dr. David Floyd’s Deuce Tudor: Gold Rush

An Eye for Style …'60s Style

There’s more to “sight’ than just simply clear vision—ask eye doctor David Floyd. Seeing is one thing, but having a true vision for something requires a deep admiration and respect, some personal experience, and the key players to help turn that vision into a reality. In Dr. Floyd’s case, that translated into seeing his ’32 Tudor sedan turn into a show stopping, ’60s-style hot rod.

The initial admiration and respect came from Floyd’s influence from being immersed in dirt track racing in the ’50s as a youngster in Alabama—he was hooked from the very first moment, he admits. Fast-forward over a half-century later, the good doc was on the hunt for a ’33-’34 Ford—because “that’s what I remember being on the tracks in the early ’50s,” he tells us. But upon approaching Hokes Bluff, Alabama’s Big Oak Garage owner Jimmy Posey about a build, David’s sights were set back a year, and his new vision entailed the construction and subsequent completion of a Deuce two-door sedan.
