Ferrari’s SF90 Stradale marks Maranello’s first step into plug-in hybrid territory … and it’s a big one

ELECTRIFYING POWER The SF90 Stradale employs a turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 engine with 574 kW on tap, the highest power output of any Ferrari V8 to date. The addition of three electric motors (one between the engine and the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, I and two sited on the front axle) fed by a lithium-ion battery pack essentially renders the SF90 an all-wheel-drive supercar and bumps the overall power output to a LaFerrari-eclipsing I 735 kW allied with 800 N.m of torque.

STILL NOT HARDCORE ENOUGH

Buyers will be able to choose between the standard car and more sports-oriented Assetto Fiorano specification. I This package includes GT racing-derived I Multimatic I shock absorbers, lightweight I components fashioned from materials such as carbon-fiber and titanium i – resulting in a weight saving of 30 kg – and a high-downforce carbon fiber rear spoiler generating 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h.

Having soldiered on largely unchanged for five years, the Discovery Sport has undergone a raft of updates, including electrified engines, innovative off-road tech, and an overhauled platform. The three-row cabin incorporates up to 24 seating configurations and an all-new infotainment system which plays host to such innovations as the brand’s smart rear-view mirror (it transforms the surface into a video screen at the flick of a switch) and the ground view system, which projects camera imagery offering a virtual 180-degree view beneath the vehicle onto the touchscreen.
