As I sit here wondering where this franchise went wrong, I find myself already dreaming about next year and the possibilities that will lie ahead for our beloved Mara Tech as they will have tons of money to spend in free agency and loads of draft picks in 2020. As it stands, it looks as though the GMEN will have at least 12 draft picks. They have one selection in rounds one through six and five picks in round seven (that’s 11). They will also likely receive a third round compensatory pick for losing safety Landon Collins in free agency and not replacing him (Jabrill Peppers came via trade). This doesn’t include the selection they’ll receive when or if (more likely when) they trade cornerback Janoris Jenkins.
And while there are massive holes all over the roster (left tackle, right tackle, center, wide receiver, free safety, middle linebacker, edge rusher), the future of the Giants resides in the battery of quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley. And that future, although everything currently pertaining to Big Blue looks pretty depressing, is bright. In fact, it’s very bright.
