Everyone in their lives go through one of the two following pains: the pain of regret or the pain of discipline. In this issue, we have frozen some of the moments from the lives of great daredevils who made every single moment count. We have Aniruddha Das who has captured the intricate times when a champ is in the building stage and what all is required to reach that glory. João Maia teaches us that it is not just out on the field that you have to prove your mettle but also in the real life. The only visually impaired photographer to cover the Rio 2016 Olympics, João is chasing his dreams and also making people aware with several lectures and seminars.
When it comes to sports, it talks about endurance and fighting with all you have got. Indrajeet Rajkhowa and Rakesh Chauhan have shown that endurance and precision in their photographs. It is also the photographer whose brain is working all the time in assessing the next moment and that’s what keeps them ever-ready to capture it. Our very own Faiz Sikandar takes us back to the mighty mountains of Leh but this time on a bicycle. He has beautifully outlined his quest to the mountain top and captured the story as a photographer, but first, experienced it as a cyclist. Arnfinn Johansen gives us a touch of wilderness with his amazing and perfectly timed shots. Nihar Lohagaonkar and Sumit Sanyal beautifully capture the rural sports of India and Paul Bride will leave one in utter awe because the shots are nothing short of perfect. In the words of Heywood Broun, ‘Sports do not build a character, they reveal it.’ All the photographers have captured the profiles of champions which reveal their identity. We also have Muses from Bengaluru this time and Chiiz’s own special pick, Chiiz Gallery. Catch this and more in this edition filled with adrenaline, sports and all things photography!

Beyond The Turfs
Q. What is the most exciting thing about capturing a player in action? How difficult is it to capture quick actions during a game?A. The most exciting thing for me is to capture ‘the moves’ of the players in action. To have a good shot, you need to have an idea of what can be the next move. I always gather some basic knowledge of the game which I’m going to shoot and it helps me a lot in capturing the most exciting moments. Indeed, it is difficult to capture those quick actions because those moments are not going to be recreated for you.
