With the Covid-19 pandemic again raging across India, it is threatening to disrupt the preparations of Indiaâs Olympic contenders. A few athletes have suffered from the virus and preparatory camps and tournaments are being rescheduled. Itâs definitely a setback for them but letâs think positive and hopefully, they will overcome everything next month.
In this issue, we have covered some of the emerging Indian athletes are known for their fighting spirit. Bhawna Jat, a wonder girl from a remote village Kabra in Rajasthan is a perfect example. The girl who used to go for cattle grazing has shown her hidden talent and has qualified for the Olympic Games in the event of 20 kilometres. Interestingly this will be her debut at the international level and considering the timings that she recorded during the last 4-5 months, the experts feel that she has a bright chance of a podium finish.
Pwilao Basumatary, a youth boxer from Assam shares a similar story. Right from her childhood, Pwilao faced several adversities, yet she overcame all to become an international star. She aims to grab the World Championship title and says she learnt to fight for everything from her childhood.
