Western Mail Locals fuming over waste disposal site

FOR more than 18 years, local people have campaigned against the landfill site at the former Hafod quarry in Wrexham.

They say their concerns are not being taken seriously because regulator Natural Resources Wales (NRW) "cannot hold [site operator] Enovert accountable".
A petition, with more than 1,000 names to it, says: "The Hafod Landfill Site has caused community distress for 18 years, making it Wales' longest-running environmental campaign.
"Despite efforts by residents and elected representatives, the site continues to emit noxious odours, creating an unacceptable statutory nuisance."
