Barry-Murphy's 'obsession' with improving Cardiff squad

BRIAN Barry-Murphy said he has an "obsession" to improve Cardiff City's squad, but will only recruit players in the January transfer window if they make the side significantly better.

In the summer window, the Bluebirds concentrated their efforts on chopping down the size of their player pool in order to drive down the average age - and wages - and allow a pathway for talented young players to come through and flourish.

And that has paid dividends thus far this term.

They have been unfortunate with injuries, with Eli King, Ollie Tanner and now Rubin Colwill having to sit on the sidelines for months with different issues, posing different questions to Barry-Murphy as he looks to maintain the Bluebirds' promotion bid.
