McIlroy hopes Trump's win can end golf's civil war

ABU DHABI - Rory McIlroy feels that with Donald Trump sweeping the United States presidential elections, a resolution in the PGA Tour-LIV Golf stand-off might be in sight.

Media reports this week suggested that the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia and backers of LIV Golf, had reached an agreement with the PGA Tour to invest over US$1 billion (S$1.3 billion) in the newly formed PGA Tour Enterprises.
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan reportedly met with PIF chief Yasir Al-Rumayyan in Riyadh last week, leading to speculation about the deal's finalisation.
World No. 3 McIlroy, who is playing in DP World Tour's Abu Dhabi Championship this week, resigned from the PGA Tour policy board in November 2023. But he was named to a players' committee in May to be involved in the negotiations with the PIF.
He was adamant on Nov 6 that a deal has not been done.
