Perpetuating mime in the new millennium

Mime artiste Kamal Naskar may be deemed the only exponent of this genre who perpetuates this performing art in this new millennium, keeping it alive to a certain coterie of spectators for its entertainment values.
Its vintage values may be traced back to the Arthashastra, and solo performers have endeavored to preserve its traditional values. A recent mime show of the Modern Mime Centre showcased a whole gamut of ideas to take its captive audience by storm.
The audience was treated to the antics of a mime interpreting miscellaneous concepts and themes. The Mime festival 2025, under the banner of Modern Mine Centre with the participation of 100 prospective mime students selected from different districts in West Bengal, drew to a close at the Rabindra Sadan auditorium recently.
