'Integrated Battle Groups likely this year'

- MAYANK SINGH @New Delhi

THE situation in Eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), remains stable but sensitive, with an existing "degree of standoff", said Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday.

In an interaction with media on the eve of the Army Day 2025, General Dwivedi confirmed that no reduction in troop levels is planned for the winter months. A review of troop deployments could occur before summer, depending on the progress of trust-building measures and the results of ongoing diplomatic discussions, he said.

"For now, during winters, we are not looking at reduction in troop levels along the LAC," he said, "We are well-poised to deal with any situation."
