Private buses on Thrissur-Kodungallur route continue to cause accidents

DESPITE repeated protests from local residents and political parties, rash driving and speeding by private buses on the Thrissur-Irinjalakkuda-Kodungallur route continue to pose a serious threat to both motorists and pedestrians.

On Monday, a motorcycle rider was killed when a speeding bus, attempting to overtake another vehicle, collided with his bike, which was coming from the opposite direction. Nellankavil Vincent, who was riding the motorcycle, died on the spot, while his daughter, who was riding pillion, sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

The accident involved a limited-stop bus, Vadakkumnathan, operating on the Thrissur-Kodungallur route.
