Rural areas witnessed heavy rain on Monday, and streets and houses were flooded. At Bailubeedu in Adyapady, cracks were found on the road, with authorities barring entry of heavy vehicles. Around 12 homes were damaged and 104 electric poles were uprooted. Five transformers and three bridges were also damaged.
At Mogerkuru in Adyapady near Bajpe on the outskirts of Mangaluru, as many as 35 families were stranded after floods caused by the swelling of the Phalguni River. Residents on the banks of the rivers in Belthangady, Bantwal are being shifted due to the rise in water level. The bathing ghat at Kukke Subramanya temple has been flooded, and the devotees have been restricted from entering the Kumaradhara river. Holy water has been stored and provided to the devotees, and staff have been deployed to ensure the safety of the devotees.
A house was damaged after a retaining wall collapsed at Kaibattal at Kadri Shivabagh. A residence at Bendody, Kollamogru village, Sullia was damaged in a landslip. Four houses were damaged due to a landslide at Kannur on Monday evening, luckily nobody was at home when the landslide occurred.
In Savanalu village, two youths who tried to cross an overflowing rivulet got swept away along with their scooter, but luckily the scooter got stuck and both were rescued with the help of locals. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Pela, Kudremukh National Park.
