Don't drag Rahul's name into Ravi saga, Cong leaders told

IN a twist into the saga of BJP MLC CT Ravi's alleged derogatory remarks against Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, the Congress high command has instructed its leaders in the state, including Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, not to drag Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's name into the issue, sources told TNIE.

BJP MLC CT Ravi alleged here on Wednesday that Congress government is "ruffian", and used the police to manhandle and humiliate him on December 19 in Belagavi. The police curtailed his fundamental rights and tortured him mentally and physically, flouting all human rights, he charged. He was narrating the incident at the Legislative Council during the winter legislature session, where he was arrested by the Belagavi police for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.

He said party leaders will meet on December 26 and 27 to decide on continuing political and legal fight against those who acted as puppets of the government and misused their powers, violating the law and Constitution.
