As the world progresses in the fight against tuberculosis, sustained awareness, improved healthcare facilities, and technological advancements in diagnosis and treatment remain crucial.

Governments and health organisations are committed to achieving a TB-free future by 2030. Through strong community engagement and sustained efforts, the dream of eliminating TB will become a reality, Dr K Narayanasamy, vice chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University tells Sinduja Jane. What is the burden of tuberculosis in the country?

According to India TB report 2024, 25 lakh patients with TB are notified annually which is 33% of the global TB notification rate. Our Sustainable Development Goal 2030 targets are 80% reduction in TB incidence, 90% reduction in TB deaths and zero catastrophic costs.

What are the challenges in eliminating TB?
