It came in the wake of mounting controversy around Jan-Hendrik Wessels’ reported suspension, something that has clearly upset Erasmus ahead of the Boks’ November tour to Europe.
Bulls forward Wessels has reportedly been banned for nine weeks for allegedly making contact with the genital area of Connacht flank Josh Murphy during a United Rugby Championship match last week.
