P27.2M shabu seized from live-in partners

An estimated P27.2 million worth of suspected shabu weighed at four kilograms was seized from a live-in couple in a joint buy-bust operation in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City on Friday dawn, August 1.
The suspects were identified as 54-year-old Joseph Tanatan Marquez and 47-year-old Judith Tingas Sanon, both natives from Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental and currently residing in Barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla, Cebu.
The anti-drug operation was jointly enforced by personnel from the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mandaue City Police Office, the Regional Intelligence Division 7 (RID7), Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit and Regional Special Project Unit (RPDEU RSPU), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group Visayas Field Unit (PDEG7), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7 Regional Special Enforcement Team (PDEA RO7 RSET).
Marquez was reportedly previously arrested in a drug-related operation in Dumaguete in 2015.
Three years after his release in 2022, an intelligence report confirmed that he had resumed illegal drug activities, prompting the authorities to conduct a case buildup against him.
