SANDF: PRESIDENT HANDS OVER THE REMAINS OF 14 SOLDIERS KILLED IN DRC TO THEIR FAMILIES

It is a difficult time for you all as families. It is also a difficult time for us as a nation, and we will forever remember them.

With these words, President Cyril Ramaphosa handed over the remains of the 14 SA National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers killed in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to their families last night.

The hearses carrying the fallen heroes and Ramaphosa arrived in pouring rain at the Air Force Base at Swartkop around 6.30pm.

Ramaphosa, as the Commander-in-Chief of the SANDF, officiated the handover amid criticism and increased pressure for him to pull the country's troops out of DRC.
