Singer hosts gala dinner to fund cancer treatment
Polokwane Observer
|June 04, 2026
Diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in March, Limpopo singer Arbina Ratsoma is preparing to host a gala dinner at Uhuru Lifestyle on June 19 from 18:00 until late, in an effort to raise money for her treatment.
The 39-year-old, popularly known as 'Manana Highness', said her ordeal started with a small bump on her neck that would not disappear. She was later referred to an ear, nose and throat specialist and sent for further diagnosis in theatre.
Music, she said, has played a crucial role in helping her cope with the diagnosis. "Music has been more than a career, it's been my lifeline. It also helped me cope with the diagnosis," she said.
Ratsoma said the reality of treatment has been overwhelming. "You may act strong at first just because they say it's curable, but once you start researching the treatment and its side effects, you realise it is not just a walk in the park. It's a life-changing experience," she said.
