Delhi breathes its best air in 9 yrs, AQI at 139

The city on Saturday was relieved with the cleanest December air in nine years, aided by moderate winds and a spell of unseasonal rainfall. Delhi's 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 139 (moderate) at 4pm, a significant departure from 353 (very poor) on Friday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) daily bulletin.
This is the lowest December AQI since the CPCB launched the index in 2015.
"The pollution was washed out by widespread showers on Friday and partially on Saturday. The wind speed was moderate, between 8-9kmph in the early hours of Saturday," Mahesh Palawat, vice president at Skymet, said.
