Court win lifts Brueckner restriction after release

THE prime suspect in Madeleine McCann's disappearance is now allowed to leave Germany after a legal restriction was lifted.

- BY MARGARET DAVIS

Christian Brueckner was freed from jail in September after serving seven years for raping an elderly woman in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2005.

Yesterday, a German court overturned a condition that was placed upon him to live in his native country.

Brueckner has never been charged over Madeleine's disappearance but remains the prime suspect in both the German and British investigations. He refused to speak to the Met Police after investigators sent a letter asking to speak to him upon his release.
