Residents fear losing homes as 'zero-cost' law firm's collapse leaves them with huge legal bills

HUNDREDS of householders face losing their homes after signing up to a "no win no fee" legal firm which has collapsed owing £48million.

Around 1,500 residents were offered free legal representation by SSB Law to help win compensation for cavity wall insulation.

However, the Sheffield-based firm fell into administration last month leaving them liable for court fees of up to £35,000 each.

Mum-of-two Sharon Lord, 47, fears she will be left homeless after getting a £17,000 bill for court costs.

Sharon said government-funded cavity wall insulation work was completed in 2014. But soon damp was a problem in her gable-end terrace in Burnley.
