Golden ticket? We want to bring in a golden age

The Tottenham head coach insists it is more important for the club to build foundations for long-term success than have a European campaign next season.

Despite huge progress this term, Tottenham are still a long way from where Postecoglou wants them to be.

Both Spurs and Aston Villa are pushing for a guaranteed place in the Champions League before their clash tomorrow.

Postecoglou said: "Look, maybe I've got to do it in Greek or another language. I'd love to be in Europe.

"It would thrill me to the deepest part of my soul. If that doesn't make it clear that I would prefer to have games [in midweek] rather than not, I'm not sure what will.

"What's more important is that, come the end of this year, we've got a team that's going to challenge the following year and keep growing.
