Strong finish helps Jacob make every second count

FLYING START AT FIRST RACE OF YEAR

TEN Burton athletes took part in the first BMC meeting of the year at Loughborough.

The first 800m race saw U15 Jacob Harmon in a determined mood as he went with the pacemaker, with Saffron Bowley also starting well.

Harmon slowed on the second lap but finished strongly to finish second in a new pb of 2.20.34.

U20 runner Bowley produced a season's best of 2.25.8, a second off her best ever time.

Myles Christopher had a 62 second opening lap and worked hard on the final 400 metres for a new pb of 2.07.76 for fifth place a few seconds off the English Schools entry standard.
