'I'm the policeman who copped £4m!'

Music-mad Jon Waring always believed his Lotto numbers would come up. Now he's rocking his way into retirement

'I'm the policeman who copped £4m!'

It was 4am when something told Jon Waring to get out of bed and check his emails.

Sitting down, he saw a message from The National Lottery telling him he'd won a prize.

“I went to Google the winning numbers and noticed there was just one winner,” he says. “I knew it must have been me.”

Jon, 57, quickly realised he'd landed the jackpot after matching six numbers, scooping an incredible £3,966,543.

“I turned my tablet off, left it five minutes and then turned it back on to double and triple check,” he recalls. “I woke my wife, Lucy, and she said, ‘Is it 1 April?’ I said, ‘No, it's June!’ There was no way we were getting back to sleep. We just sat and drank tea - we must have had 10 cups between us.”
