Upheaval unlikely to affect budget debate

Ongoing political changes are unlikely to disrupt the deliberation of the fiscal 2026 budget, says caretaker Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira.

Commenting on the government situation after the Constitutional Court ruled last week to dismiss Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and her cabinet, Mr Pichai said the ongoing political problems would not affect the deliberation of the budget bill for the 2026 fiscal year.

According to Mr Pichai, he opened the deliberation in the Senate yesterday morning and expects the process to be completed within two days.
