Speakers identify critical junctures
Artificial intelligence (AI) stands at several defining crossroads, including the shift to agentic AI, and people will be the ones deciding on the path of this transformative technology, according to Al seminar KBTG Techtopia 2025.
"AI continues to accelerate the pace at which our world is changing," Ruangroj Poonpol, group chairman of Kasikorn Business Technology Group (KBTG), said yesterday during the seminar.
For businesses to achieve successful Al transformation, they need to choose the right use cases, data foundations and AI models, he said.
AT THE CROSSROADS
The first crossroads concerns AI shifting from generative AI (GenAI) to a more advanced agentic AI that offers transformational potential by automating complex tasks.
By 2028, over 15% of day-to-day work decisions will be made autonomously through the agentic AI.
The second crossroads involves governing and containing AI as there is a fundamental ethical crossroad regarding whether AI agents will ultimately serve as tools for positive transformation or become agents of evil. People should put time and resources into governance, alignment, and containment in order to build AI.
The third crossroads is finding a balance between pushing the boundaries of AI beyond human intelligence with artificial general intelligence (AGI) and putting AI into practical applications that boost productivity and efficiency.
