»The Pheu Thai Party has questioned the cabinet's decision to continue hosting the MotoGP World Championship for another five years despite data showing declining audience numbers and diminishing economic returns.
Thailand has hosted the MotoGP since 2018, and the previous Pheu Thai-led government considered not extending the contract after next year’s event amid reports about a rift between the Pheu Thai Party and the Bhumjaithai Party earlier this year.
However, the Bhumjaithai Party-led government last week approved a proposal to extend the hosting rights from 2027 to 2031, with a budget allocation of 3.99 billion baht. The funding will cover operational costs associated with hosting the race.
