Media urged to provide clarity on Chinese issues

Newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei has called for closer cooperation between the Chinese embassy and Thai media to foster mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral ties.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Mr Zhang acknowledged Thailand’s growing concerns over illicit Chinese businesses operating in the country, which have raised safety issues for both locals and Chinese tourists.

However, he also emphasised the importance of addressing the concerns objectively and constructively, noting that the media has the responsibility to clarify these issues to create better understanding.

“Our government has been reiterating to Chinese businesses that if they wish to operate in Thailand, they must strictly respect Thai law and contribute positively to the Thai people, he said.
