Call to rev up talks on framework pact

Thailand is urging Asean to accelerate negotiations to finalise its Digital Economy Framework Agreement (Defa), which is expected to be signed next year.

Caretaker Deputy Commerce Minister Chantawit Tantasith attended an online extraordinary meeting of the Asean Economic Community Council on Aug 28, acting as the chair of negotiations for Defa.

He said Thailand encouraged the meeting to resolve several issues, particularly at the policy level, aiming to reach a conclusion by the end of this year.
