Urban Company IPO subscribed 104x, highest in 2025

Urban Company's initial public offering was subscribed a whopping 103.6 times, making it the most subscribed IPO in India this year. The offer received bids for 1,106.5 crore shares against 10.6 crore available.
The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) portion led the surge, subscribed 140.2 times. Foreign investors applied for 264.9 crore shares, while domestic institutions and insurers bid for 319.7 crore shares.
Mutual funds contributed with 56.7 crore shares, reflecting strong confidence. The Non-Institutional Investor (NII) segment was subscribed 74 times, while the employee quota saw 36.8 times subscription.
This strong demand highlights robust investor sentiment and growing confidence in new-age digital service platforms like Urban Company.
Man loses Rs. 20 lakh in online trading WhatsApp scam
A 38-year-old man from Kestopur, Kolkata, lost around Rs. 20 lakh in an online trading fraud after joining two WhatsApp groups posing as stock trading forums.
The victim, Arghya Kusum Majumder, initially encountered a post on Instagram offering stock market tips and was added to a group named "333 BOB Caps-group," where he transferred Rs. 12 lakh via IMPS and RTGS.
Later, he joined another group "Trustline Strategy Circle 103" and transferred an additional Rs. 7.9 lakh. When he attempted to withdraw his supposed profits, the fraudsters asked for more money, citing tax demands.
Realising he had been duped, Majumder reported the incident on the National Cyber Reporting platform and filed an FIR with the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police under provisions of the BNS Act, 2023.
The incident underscores the increasing sophistication of financial cybercrime using social media platforms.
